Gongwer's Elections App – Now Free – Returns

Posted: May 21, 2024 1:45 PM

Gongwer News Service's exclusive elections app is again available to provide subscribers and the public with Michigan's most powerful tool for monitoring state and federal elections – with exciting new upgrades and now as a free download.

The Michigan Elections app, available for download on iOS and Android devices, has undergone the most significant upgrade and overhaul since its debut in the 2014 cycle. It remains the state's only native elections app available in the App Store and Play Store.

Gongwer has made the app a free service.

New features include:

A Favorites function. Build your own curated list of the races you're watching by marking any race as a favorite. Review your favorites using the new Favorites button in the menu bar.

The new app is now the permanent app platform. This means no more having to download a new version each election cycle. As part of this change, we've incorporated an archives menu to let users review the previous three election cycles in addition to the current one. Quickly find previous candidates and election results by changing the year.

With the app now the permanent platform, Gongwer will begin updates for the 2026 cycle in early 2025, meaning the app won't go quiet after the election, making Michigan Elections an ongoing resource.

This is all on top of the previous features that have made Michigan Elections the unanimous choice for professionals and political junkies to track state and federal elections:

  • Candidate biographical information (updates are ongoing);
  • Gongwer analysis of all state and federal races – all 13 U.S. House races and 110 Michigan House races are sorted on a color-coded chart on their competitiveness;
  • Regular updates;
  • Push notifications when new information is posted;
  • Separate lists of Primary and General Election races Gongwer considers ones to watch;
  • Key resources like district maps.
  • Interactive, chock-full of information available nowhere else and now free – it's the must have app for Michigan politics.
