Education: University of Michigan 1977-78 / Wayne State University 1978-80. I pursued a pre-law curriculum. Majored in Michigan History. Left school with the birth of a child and job offer. I have numerous professional certifications - previously holding my National Food Handlers certification.
Employment/Military Record: I've worked for several Fortune 500 companies - the latest was over a decade ago - First American Title Insurance Co. Since that time, I've worked as a licensed agent of First American. My partners and I own our own agency. Prior to First American, I owned the Apple Blossom Restaurant in Grand Rapids during the 1990's. Prior to that I was with Vicorp Restaurants, Inc. -- and national restaurant firm out of Denver, CO. That covers the last 35 years.
Community Activities: I was a longtime member of the Michigan Jaycees - serving in several capacities. I was President of the Riverview Jaycees in 1982. - my work has had me speak with various groups including the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, and others. My wife and I have work many years with West Michigan March of Dimes. We're members of the National Geographic Society, the Arbor Foundation, have a genealogical organization we founded, longtime involvement with AYSO Soccer Michigan; I am a 17-gallon blood donor and advocate for Michigan Blood; I've worked with Project Concern, MDA America; Amnesty International.
